Morning Person

I must've gotten it from my mother. I have very few memories of her "sleeping in"...at least, not the kind of sleeping in you or I might associate with the words. No, she was always up cooking or cleaning. Sometimes, by the time I got up, she would have been awake and busy long enough to need a nap. It used to astound me. It's Saturday...who needs to be up by six on a Saturday?!

Obviously, I now need to be up at six on a Saturday.

Maybe 'need' is a bad choice of word (although sometimes I really do need to be up to put things in the crockpot, or let an angry cat in or outside)...but there is definitely a pull for me to slide out of bed and make my way upstairs every morning to open up all the curtains and see what I can see.I like to drink a cup of coffee by the windowsill and plan my day. I like to do some yoga with my cats and meditate on the things that are making me worry. I like to make breakfast food akin to what you see above (I sent this picture to my dad the first time I made them. His response? "Come home and make some for me!").

Waking up early gets me better prepared to face the day.

There is a downside, however.

By 7pm, I've usually got my hair in a bun and my sweatpants on. Not so bad, you say? Try being a 21 year old in a college town with friends who are ready to go out:) "Next weekend, guys, I promise. There is a really good episode of Top Gear on tonight!"

Anyway, that's a little bit about me for now. Sorry it took so long to get this post out. Honestly, I have been really really busy lately. School, and now a job with lots of hours, and, of course, my cats. They need attention,  too. But the quarter is almost over and I'm finally putting together a good schedule for everything else. So look for more frequent posts. I think next time I'll have a little surprise!

Love,
Zoey

Introductions

If you followed my blog through China at all then hello, welcome back.
If you're new then hello, nice to meet you.

I'm Zoey

This is probably something like my third or forth blog in the past few years. It's been tough for me to stick with my blogs, partially because I have a short attention span, and partially because I always had such a narrow scope. But this time is different. This time I am going to pour it all out. This isn't a 'cooking blog' or a 'travel blog' or a 'wedding blog' or even a 'cultural examination' blog...it's all of that. It's my day-to-day experience with life, on my level, through my eyes, and the "note(s) to self" I take to keep track of it all and [hopefully] make sense of everything.

So I guess this is going to be like a life therapy tool for me. I can't promise it won't get weird, or even outlandish, at times...but I can promise that it's all my voice and my reasoning.

Hopefully you find something you like.
